Chris' journey started in 2001 when he borrowed a guitar to write a song for a lady-friend. His father bought him an Ovation Celebrity acoustic guitar shortly thereafter, and he has been writing music ever since.
"I find music a great outlet for all emotion, and am constantly surprised with my sources of inspiration."
Chris has always been interested in music. From 4th grade until High School Graduation he played the baritone horn (euphonium), and made it into numerous All-Counties and Area-All-State once. He's also been singing since 11 years old, and has been in numerous Show/Jazz choirs and musicals.
After playing in a few musical pits and jazz bands, it was time for college. The summer between 1st and 2nd year began the song-writing process, and he hasn't stopped since. With a focus on complete song-writing, Chris has been able to create catchy, emotional, intelligent songs that appeal to nearly everyone.
"I just write what comes to my mind, lyrically or musically, and work on that until it sounds good. Sometimes there's no rhyme or reason, other times I pour my heart out."
After playing with a few local bands, Chris almost gave up hope until October, 2004, when he won $150 in a talent show @ the college. With newfound resolve, he got back to work writing new guitar parts and lyrics for what looked to be a solo venture, totalling over 50 original songs (most yet to be recorded)!
Then Justin came along, and musical sparks started to fly. They've been creating face-melting music ever since, bringing in Chris' friend and fraternity brother, Andy Scalzo, for percussion. Later, Kurt came into the mix and added a fresh new sound with his amazing guitar licks.
Unfortunately, Andy had to take leave of the band, followed by a short stint with a new lead singer, Adam Derue. Currently Chris is working to restructure the band and get things going again with some fresh new tracks!
No matter what the inspiration for words or music, it's all done with a lot of heart (and just a little talent)
"Honestly, I focus more on the guitar blending perfectly with the lyrics than doing some crazy guitar solo...what's the point if the words don't MEAN anything?"
Currently Chris plays a 6-string Dean Acoustic guitar for most work, along with his Fishman Loudbox Performer amplifier. He also toys with "The Blue Iguana" Schecter Classic electric guitar and his Fender HotRod Deville 410 for those songs that need a little edge.
